Jenny Plesums provides CPA-consultant services, typically acting in Controller/CFO roles for companies too small to need a full time financial officer. She serves as many as 20 concurrent clients. These services typically include

• "Start-up" financial operations involving recruiting and supervision of staff, implementation of systems, and development of operating procedures. Her greatest satisfaction is the client whose success and growth leads to the ultimate requirement for a full time financial executive - who she could help recruit and train. At the other extreme, she has helped in the orderly dissolution of companies that have failed.
• "Archeological" accounting - establishing GAAP financial records from informal records that may have been kept during a start-up, reconciliation of accounts, and tracing of assets. Sometimes this involves pulling together data to allow past tax returns and payroll reports to be filed.
• "Acquisition" accounting, including review of finances of prospective acquisitions, staff assessment, integration of records and staff, development of procedures.

Normally she works with existing staff, to take advantage of their skills to do the routine bookkeeping work, while she provides the accounting review and preparation of financial statements. If the current system isn't working, then she can work on staff training, procedures, and, if necessary, recruiting. The goal is normally to provide reliable financial records at minimum cost, to use for internal control, for use with banks and investors, and for use by your tax accountants.

Before moving to Austin, Jenny was the business manager, functioning as the chief financial officer, for Radiology Associates of San Antonio. She spent several years as the Director of Outpatient Operations for M&S X-Ray, in charge of operating seven outpatient clinics (including building two new multimillion dollar facilities). Earlier she was a public accountant, with practices involving tax, litigation support, and retirement plans.

Earlier in Jenny's career she was in medical research (at the University of Minnesota, University of Virginia, and University of Pennsylvania). She has several published scientific paper in orthopedics, physiology, and reproduction.

Jenny is a Certified Public Accountant (licensed in Texas) and a Registered Medical Technologist of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (inactive). She is a former President and board member of Hospice San Antonio. Jenny was graduated from Viterbo University in LaCrosse Wisconsin, and did most of her accounting training at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
