Southern Coast
Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door

Lulworth Cove - nice but ho-hum

Lulworth Cove 1012
Hike above Lulworth Cove 973

But the good part was quite a hike above that little cove

But we made it to the top

Back to the cove 976
Way to go to Durdle Door 977

But it was still quite a ways to go to Durdle Door.

The view of Durdle Door was great from the top

Down to Durdle Door 979
Steps to the beach 982

There were a lot of steps down to the beach in various directions

The real Durdle Door. We called it the drinking dragon.

Durdle Door 984
Cliff 1000

The cliff along the beach was absolutely spectacular.

The rocks were bright white - a shiny chalk - but had spots of shiny black

Cliff 1003
Cliff 1002

As you can see when we get closer.

The black part is flint - another hard shiny stone.

West End 1006

West end - the start of another door. According to Jenny, the rock almost visible in front of the door sometimes looked like a sailing ship.

And looking back east. Lulworth cove is farther east, beyond Durdle Door - the dragon.
